Mega Quest

Walkthrough

1

The Sea-Worn Mega Hoard!

Head to Professor Palm on HUB. She explains that the Black Duskull Crew has camped at Sharpedo Reef and that she spotted something suspicious in their haul, it looks like an artifact stolen from a local sailor years ago.

"I don't know if you've visited Sharpedo Reef recently, but some pirates calling themselves the Black Duskull Crew have turned a portion of it into a camp. It really isn't a good look for Loa'ai."

"I need you to figure out a way to retrieve it. As much as I didn't like listening to the old man yap about his treasure, it's sad to see something stolen from someone."

Palm mentions a mysterious sailor who stopped talking about his artifact after repeated pirate raids on his ship. Head to Sharpedo Reef Dock to find him first.

2

Talk to the Old Sailor

Find the Sailor at the dock in HUB. He confirms his artifact was stolen long ago and excitedly gives a description: a brilliant, pure blue orb that blinds those who stare too long. He also tips you off about the camp.

"It is a brilliant, pure, blue orb. Light shines off of it in a way that might blind a man if he stares too long! Trust me, you'll know it when you see it."

"May the seas be at your back. If you plan on taking them on, know that they don't typically play fair. It'll likely be a 2 vs 1."

3

Talk to the Pirates & Defeat them

Head into the pirate camp at HUB. You walk in on an internal argument about selling their haul to a mysterious corporation. When you demand the artifact, the pirates seem confused they refer to it by a different name entirely. Dialogue breaks down and a fight breaks out.

"Listen kid, no way we're handing over that mega stone to you. So you can just be on your way now." — Black Duskull Corsair

Defeat Black Duskull Pirate 1 & Pirate 2.

4

Talk to the Pirate Boss

After defeating the crew, the Black Duskull Corsair personally steps in. He suspects the player intends to return the stone to the Sailor so he can sell it to the corporation and refuses to surrender without a fight.

"And if it returns to the sailor, he'll just sell it! I'm not letting you put your hands in something you know nothing about!" — Black Duskull Corsair

Defeat the Black Duskull Corsair.

5

Defeat the Pirate Boss

With the captain defeated, you recover the stone and order the pirates to clear out of Sharpedo Reef. The Corsair, reluctantly, agrees to pack up.

"You'll find out soon enough. Just take the Gyaradosite and leave us be."

"I don't have any intention of staying if that stone gets in the wrong hands anyways. We'll pack up soon."

Return to the Sailor — The Twist

Bring the stone back to the Sailor at the dock. The reveal: it was never the legendary blue orb, it's his old Gyaradosite, which he was actually planning to sell. He's thrilled all the same, and gives the stone to the player as thanks. He then points you to his niece on Main Isle.

"HAHAHAHAHA! That's my old Gyaradosite! Good work, lad! I never thought I'd see it again!"

"Go back to Main Isle and talk to my Niece — she'll give you something else of mine that you'll need to work that thing. Tell her Uncle Jerry sent you."

7

Talk to the the Old Sailor's Niece

Find Gloria (Jerry's niece) on Spawn. After explaining the situation, she hands over the Mega Band — the wrist device required to activate Mega Evolution in battle.

"It's called a Mega Band. It'll let you transform your Gyarados to its Mega Form if it's holding the stone. Obviously it'll also work with any Mega Pokémon you might have too!" — Gloria

Report Back to Professor Palm

Return to Professor Palm at her Lab to close out the quest. She pieces together the whole story on her own — no legendary orb, just a Gyaradosite and a Mega Band, but a great adventure regardless.

"HAH! As if I'd believe that!" — Prof. Palm, on being told pirates don't actually say "Arr"

Lore & Story Notes

chevron-right🧭 Who is the Sailor?hashtag

The Sailor nicknamed "Uncle Jerry" by his niece Gloria was once famous in Lo'ai for his tales about a legendary blue orb said to summon a colossal marine Pokémon. After repeated pirate raids on his ship, he stopped talking about it publicly, leading Professor Palm to believe the artifact had been stolen.

In reality, what the pirates had was his Gyaradosite, a different item he had actually been planning to sell. The true location of the legendary blue orb remains completely unknown.

chevron-right☠️ What was the Corsair's real motive?hashtag

The Pirate Corsair is not straightforwardly villainous. He implies the Sailor was planning to sell the Gyaradosite to a mysterious corporation, and that he took it to keep it out of their hands. He only fights the player because he believes they're acting on behalf of that organization.

This hints at a larger conflict involving an unknown group with interest in Mega Stones a thread that may continue in future quests.

chevron-right🔵 What about the legendary blue orb?hashtag

The legendary blue orb; described as brilliant, pure blue, and nearly blinding is a completely separate item from the Gyaradosite. It was never found at Sharpedo Reef. The Sailor promises to contact the player through Professor Palm if he ever gets a lead on it.

Its ultimate purpose and current whereabouts remain a mystery in the Lo'ai Region.

The Mega Band works for ALL Mega Pokémon, not just Gyarados. If you already have a compatible Mega, this is a major power unlock from the moment Gloria hands it to you.

FAQ

chevron-rightThe pirate camp NPCs won't talk to me. What do I do?hashtag

Make sure you have fully completed the Tutorial Quest first — the Mega Quest chain won't activate until the tutorial is finished. If the tutorial is done and NPCs are still unresponsive, open a ticket

chevron-rightI defeated the pirates but the boss fight didn't trigger. Am I stuck?hashtag

After defeating Pirate 1 & 2, the Corsair's dialogue should start automatically. Try walking away from the camp and returning to re-trigger the NPC.

chevron-rightI can't find the Sailor at Hub.hashtag

The Sailor is at the dock area of hub, not inside the pirate camp. Look along the waterfront he should be standing near the edge of the pier, nxt to the mary ship. You can also follow the quest compass

chevron-rightI already have a Mega Band or Gyaradosite. Will I get a duplicate?hashtag

Yes, the quest rewards both items regardless. A second Gyaradosite can be used on another Gyarados, and for the band, make sure this works, as pooevious mega bands from forge dont work with the current megastones.

chevron-rightDoes the Mega Band only work with Gyarados?hashtag

No. The Mega Band works with any Mega-capable Pokémon as long as it holds its corresponding Mega Stone. The Gyaradosite is Gyarados-specific, but the band itself is universal any Mega Stone you find later will work with it.

chevron-rightWill I ever find the legendary blue orb the Sailor talked about?hashtag

Not in this quest. The blue orb is a completely separate item from the Gyaradosite and its location is currently unknown in Lo'ai. The Sailor hints he'll contact the player through Professor Palm if he gets a lead — this thread is likely to continue in a future quest.

chevron-rightWhy did the pirates take the Gyaradosite in the first place?hashtag

The Corsair implies he was protecting it from a mysterious corporation that wanted to acquire it, considering the Sailor's plan to sell it dangerous. His exact reasoning is never fully explained and may be explored in future quest content.
