# Cobblemon Commands: Every Command in the Mod

Every Cobblemon command with its syntax and who can use it, from giving and spawning Pokemon to PC and battle commands. Checked against Cobblemon 1.8.2.

**Cobblemon has its own commands to give, spawn, edit and heal Pokemon, open the PC, control battles and more.** Nearly all of them need operator permission. Out of the box only three work for every player: `/cobblemon info`, `/cobblemonconfig` and `/abandonmultiteam`. On a public server, the owner decides who gets the rest. This page covers 56 commands from the Cobblemon mod itself. Checked against Cobblemon 1.8.2.

Looking for homes, trading, shops or quests on Cobblemon Islands? Those are server commands and have their own pages: [CI Game Commands](https://wiki.cobblemonislands.com/new-islanders-information/ci-game-commands).

## Commands every player can use

| Command             | What it does                                                                                |
| ------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `/abandonmultiteam` | Leaves your multi battle team. Also works as `/abandonmultibattleteam`. |
| `/cobblemon info` | Shows the Cobblemon version, whether it is a snapshot build, the Git commit and the branch. |
| `/cobblemonconfig`  | Opens the Cobblemon settings screen.                                                        |

Every other command below needs operator permission. It only works if you have the level shown in its row.

## How permissions work

Cobblemon uses the permission levels of Minecraft by default. Level 2 is the level for cheat commands and command blocks. Level 4 is the highest level, for all commands. The last column in the tables shows the level each command needs by default. A server can swap this check for its own permission setup, so the real rules depend on the server you play on.

## How to write the Pokemon part of a command

Many commands end with `<properties>`. Type a Pokemon name, then any settings you want, with a space between each one. Use the name `random` for a random species. For yes or no settings such as `shiny` and `alpha`, you can leave out the value to mean yes.

| Setting         | What it sets                                                                                                                                                    | Example                      |
| --------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------- |
| `level`         | The level. The short forms `lvl` and `l` work too.                                                                                                              | `level=20`                   |
| `shiny`         | Makes the Pokemon shiny, or not with `shiny=false`.                                                                                                             | `shiny`                      |
| `gender`        | `male`, `female` or `genderless`.                                                                                                                               | `gender=female`              |

### Commands left out

Cobblemon also has 8 commands for mod developers and testing that this page does not cover: `/changeeyeheight`, `/changescaleandsize`, `/changewalkspeed`, `/transformmodelpart`, `/testcommand`, `/reloadshowdown`, `/cobblemonclicktext` and `/getnbt`. Four change the size, speed or model of a species while the game runs, one is a hard-coded test, one restarts the Showdown battle service, one is used behind the scenes by clickable chat text, and one does nothing.

## Common questions

<details>

<summary>What is the command to get a Pokemon in Cobblemon?</summary>

Use `/givepokemon` followed by the Pokemon and any settings, for example `/givepokemon eevee level=20`. It needs operator permission (level 2).

</details>

<details>

<summary>How do I spawn a Pokemon with a command?</summary>

Use `/spawnpokemon` with a Pokemon name, for example `/spawnpokemon pikachu level=30`. It spawns the Pokemon where you are standing. Use `/spawnpokemonat` with coordinates to pick the spot. If you type `random` instead of a name, you get a random species.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How do I heal my Pokemon with a command?</summary>

Type `/healpokemon` or `/pokeheal`. It fully heals your party, but it does not work while you are in a battle. It needs operator permission (level 2).

</details>

<details>

<summary>How do I make a Pokemon shiny with a command?</summary>

Add `shiny` when you make it, for example `/givepokemon eevee shiny`. To change a Pokemon you already have, use `/pokeedit` with its party slot, for example `/pokeedit 1 shiny`.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How do I open my PC with a command?</summary>

Type `/pc`, or `/pc 3` to open box 3. It needs operator permission (level 2) and it does not work during a battle.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How do I give myself a TM?</summary>

Use `/givetm` with the move name, for example `/givetm earthquake`. Add a number to get more than one.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Why do Cobblemon commands not work for me?</summary>

Almost every Cobblemon command needs operator permission, level 2 or level 4 by default, so you need that level to run it. On a server, the owner decides who may use each command. Only `/cobblemon info`, `/cobblemonconfig` and `/abandonmultiteam` work for everyone by default.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How do I see which Pokemon can spawn near me?</summary>

Type `/checkspawn common` to list what can spawn around you in the common bucket, with the chance of each one. Swap `common` for another bucket such as `rare`. It needs operator permission (level 2).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://wiki.cobblemonislands.com/new-islanders-information/ci-game-commands/cobblemon-commands.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
