# Cobblemon 1.8.2 Update: 17 New Pokemon and Every Change

Everything new in Cobblemon 1.8.2 for Minecraft: 17 new Pokemon, Burmy cloaks, Terrain Plants, placeable items, a Pokedex evolution tree and bug fixes.

Cobblemon 1.8.2 is out. It adds **17 new Pokemon**, including the Burmy line with its three cloaks, Eternatus, and the Snover, Tympole, Helioptile, Grubbin and Greavard lines. It also brings Terrain Plants, a large batch of items you can place as blocks, wearable items, and a Pokedex evolution tree.

Cobblemon 1.8.2 released on **11 October 2026** for Minecraft 1.21.1 on Fabric and NeoForge. It follows 1.8.1 (12 September 2026) and the 1.8.0 Make Your Move update, which has its own page: [Cobblemon 1.8 update](https://wiki.cobblemonislands.com/cobblemon-1.8).

This page lists every change in the official changelog, grouped so you can find what you want. Those sections are checked against the [Cobblemon 1.8.2 changelog in the official repository](https://gitlab.com/cable-mc/cobblemon/-/blob/1.8.2/CHANGELOG.md) and the [Cobblemon release on Modrinth](https://modrinth.com/mod/cobblemon), which match. One section, spawn data, comes from the game files instead and says so where it appears.

Cobblemon Islands is running Cobblemon 1.8.2.

### Burmy, Wormadam and Mothim

Burmy now changes its cloak after a battle it took part in, based on the biome it is in:

* Trash Cloak in the Deep Dark, Nether and End.
* Plant Cloak in lush biomes such as forests, jungles, plains and swamps.
* Sandy Cloak in sandy biomes, beaches and caves.

Burmy and Wormadam come in Plant, Sandy and Trash cloaks. Plant is the default form. Datapack makers can control which biomes give which cloak with the new biome tags (see the datapack section below).

## Terrain Plants, flowers and farming

* **Terrain Plants.** Four plants that grow from Electric, Grassy, Misty and Psychic Seeds. They glow under specific environmental conditions, and you can farm them for more of their seeds.
* **Terrain Seeds can be planted.** They are also used up during PvP and NPC battles.
* **Oricorio Flowers.** A new set of flowers for Oricorio.
* **Berries in Flower Pots.** Berries can now be placed in Flower Pots.
* **Mint.** Mint Leaves can now be placed on the ground as Leaf Litter, or in Flower Pots.
* **Bees.** Bees now grow Apricorns and the Galarica Nut Bush, and correctly spend their nectar when they do.
* **Saccharine Leaves** can now be bone mealed.

## Items you can place and wear

Cobblemon 1.8.2 turns a long list of held items into decor. **50 items** can now be placed, in three ways.

**Placed on the ground as blocks (40):** King's Rock, Galarica Cuff, Unremarkable Teacup, Masterpiece Teacup, Chipped Pot, Cracked Pot, Sachet, Metal Powder, Quick Powder, Bright Powder, Soft Sand, Electirizer, Magmarizer, Icy Rock, Heat Rock, Smooth Rock, Damp Rock, Destiny Knot, Luminous Moss, Never-Melt Ice, Wide Lens, Scope Lens, Zoom Lens, Iron Ball, Metal Coat, Throat Spray, Terrain Extender, Medicinal Brew, Moomoo Milk, HP Up, Protein, Iron, Carbos, Calcium, Zinc, PP Up, PP Max, Upgrade, Dubious Disc, Loaded Dice.

**Placed on various surfaces (7):** Galarica Wreath, Magnet, Flame Orb, Life Orb, Toxic Orb, Light Ball, Smoke Ball.

**Placed as blocks with extra functions (3):** Ring Target, Metronome, Eject Button.

Placeable items also got custom sounds: liquid bottles, pill bottles, powders and dice each have their own.

**Wearable by players and Pokemon (7):** Galarica Wreath, Cleanse Tag, Spell Tag, Sharp Beak, Covert Cloak, Shell Helmet, Never-Melt Ice. You can equip a wearable item by holding it and right-clicking (or whatever you have set use/interact to). Wearable items that can also be placed down are exempt, so those still place.

Other additions:

* The recall animation now shows the ball in hand with the player's arm raised.
* Paper is a new cosmetic item for Pikachu.

## Pokedex changes in 1.8.2

* **Evolution tree.** The evolution tree for a Pokemon can now be viewed in the Pokedex. It shows the Pokemon's full family line and what is needed to evolve into each stage.
* **Vivillon patterns** are now viewable as forms, with form names and their own Pokedex entries.

## Gameplay changes in 1.8.2

* Slowed the speed of Type Gem growth, and revamped their generation to grow in a more crystal-like shape.
* Glow Item Frames can be crafted using Bright Powder as an alternative to Glow Ink Sacs.
* Bright Powder can be used on Signs and Hanging Signs to make text glow, as an alternative to Glow Ink Sacs.
* Updated various recipes to display in Recipe Groups within the Recipe Book.
* Updated most recipes to display more logically and consistently within the Recipe Book's categories.
* Updated recipes: Never-Melt Ice, Focus Sash, Blunder Policy, Weakness Policy and Blank TM.
* Ride rotations are less jittery in multiplayer.
* Disc Shelf TMs now use textures instead of tinting and overlays, so they line up with the item display.
* Blank TM can now be inserted into the Disc Shelf.
* Added a TM creative tab.
* Regional split-evolution locations and Vivillon split-evolution locations are now mutually exclusive.
* Item evolutions now unlock all locked evolutions whose requirements are met instead of stopping after the first.
  * Forced evolutions are the exception and still stop after the first one.
* Removed Mega Drain as a TM.
* Poke Snacks and other area spawns now start checking height from the center of the area instead of its base.
  * This helps Poke Snacks work inside caves and tighter spaces.

## Spawn data in the 1.8.2 game files

The official changelog does not list spawn changes, but the spawn files inside the 1.8.2 release are not the same as the ones in 1.8.1. This section comes from comparing the two releases' files, not from the changelog. Cobblemon Islands also adds its own spawns on top of Cobblemon's, so what you find on the server can differ from the table below. Each Pokemon's Pokedex entry has more on where it spawns on Cobblemon Islands.

### Where the new Pokemon spawn in Cobblemon 1.8.2

This is how Cobblemon 1.8.2's own spawn files place each new Pokemon.

```json
{
  "variant": "attack_defence_ratio",
  "pokedexIcon": "minecraft:diamond_sword",
  "pokedexTooltip": "cobblemon.ui.pokedex.requirement.attack_defence_ratio.tooltip"
}
```

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://wiki.cobblemonislands.com/cobblemon-1.8.2.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
